Riddings Fishery 2nd June 2007

Story By: John Buxton

Well we all arrived at the fishery to be greeted by a very warm welcome and a very tasty breakfast, the Lads and Lasses starting to arrive bringing plenty of sunshine with them as far away as Glossop, Mansfield, Derby and Market Harborough and plenty of locals to.

It was very warm we either swear when its wet or to hot as you will see from the results a few anglers did not weigh in but it was not because they did not dry net it was just the fact we new yes and l was one them we did not have enough to trouble the scales men.

On the day we had two with 53lb dead Gary Ribbons from Market Harborough just keeping it in the family as Dad Mick was in Ireland with John Holmes tying with Gary.
Both sat with three pegs between them so it was a good all round battle from the start, coming third was Keith Lewis from BCUK who travelled from Mansfield he was two pegs from so we had a bit of banter, Keith has already proved himself to fish the final as he came in the top five at Lindholme back in April.

Many fish were just cruising about not a concern in the world but just did not look interested what so ever personally you cannot knock the venue the fish are there but it is up to us as anglers to catch them. Many methods were used to try and force the fish into feeding the margins did not produce that was my tactic but it was not to be.

It is my intention to try and avoid the weeks that fish are spawning and get this match towards the end of June

The other anglers to finish in the top 5 who will come to the final are Rob Beirton BCUK, Kevin Folwell, John Holmes with the two lads above.

I hope all enjoyed the match another £221 was raised for the charities and will boost the total a little more so now we head for Birch House Lakes Ednaston Nr Brailsford for the forth match of the six to get in the invitation final.
