Charities Championship 2007
Misterton Hall August 4th
Story By: John Buxton

Well this year we had the luxury of all meeting
at The Tavern public house at Walcote to be welcomed by Mario and
his lovely wife, tables all set out pots of tea toast and a hearty
breakfast.
The draw was set for 9.00am and all numbers
went into the hat and we was off Jake King and Alec Wilson had
previously pegged the venue the favourite pegs fell to some good
anglers the favoured peg 13 unlucky for some went to the winner Glen
Ribbons catching a bag of Tench, Carp and a few Roach to knock up a
weight of 34lb 10oz, l myself was pegged next to him and often heard
the word oh Bu---- and another fish was lost, many fish shown at the
top end of the lake with Tench and Carp bubbles galore and yes l had
no tip rod to cast to the far side just my 11meter pole typical.
All anglers where very unsure about the venue
as over the years it has dwindled to turn out to be very
disappointing but a few fish were caught Mick Pops Ribbons finished
second with 16lb off peg one seeing him through to the final with
his sons Darren and Glen while on peg two Dirkie Boy Williams was
fast asleep on the bank keeping Craig on peg three amused Alec
Wilson won this section with a weight of 4lb 02oz. on section A.
Just a little up the roadside bank Kevin
Folwell finished third with a weight of 13lb 10oz already progressed
to the final with a mixed bag of fish, newcomer who entered and came
into the match at the last minute Martin McGurk won his section B
and will come to the final in September.
Many anglers who drew the lawn side bank did
not fancy it at all but Ted Rowe with 12lb 11oz of peg 14 and on peg
15 Graham Cheney 12lb 04oz with Alan Slider West netted 13lb 02oz
peg 17 and all set to have an early bath but was convinced to stay
and battle it out and turning it all around to win his section C.
Jake King peg 22 sat by the boat house and took
a weight of 13lb 04 to win section D all competitors hopefully
enjoyed the day even those that struggled and did not catch all we
have to do know is all get set up for the final now in September the
22nd at Holly Farm.
