Holmes Farm July 26th 2008

Hi Guys,

Well with a few dropping out and a few coming in and then the same again it makes you think thank god for the regulars who support these charity matches, the numbers went from 24 to 18 in rapid style but never mind we still hit £186 for charity through entry, raffle and donations.

The donations came from £20.00 from the landlord of the Black Horse where we had a cracking breakfast and as much tea and coffee, and how about this, we stopped at the Chinese take away in Weedon on the way home and Lyn went in to order and she spoke to a guy and yes l have told her times don't speak to strangers, Lyn told him where we went and what we did and that was that a minute later he returned with a tenner and said put this to your charity, there are certainly some caring people out there.

The match started 30 minutes earlier than usual, as we were all keen and ready to get at them.  The weather was gloriously hot and soon the lads were catching roach from the off and a few small carp coming to the net but nothing fantastic as time progressed the carp were just browsing on the surface and just did not want to know. Typical what weather is glorious to us isn't always the same for the fish.

I myself lost 4 carp in the last hour only due to my laziness and they were big carp, l should have changed my rig or gone to a bigger hook but that's me i'm afraid.  All the action came in the last hour as many started to catch even Wayne Panting was going to pack up but stuck it out to weigh in 16lb.06.

It was indeed a pleasing to see  Jake King  build a weight of 53lb .11 to win the match and enter into the final at Holly farm. Rob Camden who helps Wayne came second on the day only two pegs from the winner with 45lb .06 and third place went to Tez Sanderson with 32lb .06 section winner A was won by Kevin Woodhouse with 05lb . 06 section B Glen Ribbons with 21lb . 08, section C Rob Scotting with 20lb . 12 and finally Alan (slider) West with 25lb .04.

Other anglers to be invited to the final in September will be Rob Camden, Tez Sanderson, Rob Scotting and Dave Smart and also the winner on the day Jake King.
