Holly Farm May 24th 2008

The usual gang getting ready for the draw above, not sure how useful bucko found his new pole support for counting the money though.

Unfortunately I couldn't fish this one as I had another appointment in the afternoon, but to show support I went along for the draw and have some banter with the competitors as they got ready for the start.  I was also there to pick up my nets which got mixed up with Rogers when we travelled up North together several weeks before. I've had mice problems so I was glad to hand him them back before they got infested.

Above Wayne sorting out his pole sections of his brand new pole. I had to buy his old one to see if any of his talent would rub off on me? He had drawn the peg next to where he won the final last yea, so he was the man to watch and as it happened he didn't disappoint as he managed fifth overall and a section win.

The weather was looking decidedly dodgy , as there was a cold wind blowing grey skies so I was glad that I wasn't fishing, because knowing my luck I would have been drawn down wind and it would not have been a pleasant five hours fishing but how wrong can you get as the winners came from that area and they definitely had a pleasant five hours fishing looking at the weights.

Shall I fish the ledger the pole or both? as you can see by the ripple on the water Neal was fishing at the wrong end of the lake so it didn't really matter:)

It pays to have your rod made up prior to fishing "Why"? to save time of course well that's the theory :) but sometimes things just don't go the way you plan :)

Terry managed to get it sorted out and came a credible 6th and won his section.

Big thank-you to our sponsor Woodford Plant Hire thank-you for enabling us to stage the Charities Championship events for 2008, for without your generosity it wouldn't happen
