Heyford Fishery August 9th 2008

Heyford Fishery
definitely a blast form the past, this fishery used to be the
Mecca for match angling, with all the big names in angling fishing
there but over the years it lost its popularity and sadly it
finally closed its doors last year. But opened again with new
owners and with plans afoot to bring the old girl back to life
with fresh stocks of fish, the future looks bright for Heyford.
Bucko's Story
Well with the weather
forecast giving out rain rain rain we woke up to a clear sky and
thought how long will this last well to be honest not long,.
Lyn and I had only ten minutes up the A5 to travel, so it was nice
to have a lay in but we still arrived about 7.45 am to find
anglers tucking into the fishery breakfast which again was first
class and a good start to the day.
It was unfortunate we had to move pegs as the pegs we asked for
was not clear of weed but is being dealt with by the fishery, so
we moved up to pegs 78 to 114 it was slow everywhere and not a lot
being caught l will not discuss my catch but l think it was the
smallest perch l had ever caught.
There was 11 D,N,W, but some returned fish silly billies as some
might have made it into the top five as the winners had already
made the final on previous matches.
The winner was our own dangler Dirk Williams with 13lb 02 oz of
peg 82 it was pleasing to see he stopped awake for once, as it was
not sleeping weather so well done Dirk.

'Winners wheels'
20 years on and still carrying the kit, couple of buckled wheels a
bit like its owner.
Second went to a tie between Glen Ribbons and Kevin Folwell both
weighing in 12lb 06oz Glen of peg 78 and Kevin on peg 84.
Newcomers to our matches Jim Boyle with 9lb 04oz took section A
and Kevin Winfield grabbed section B with 4lb 12oz, Regular Darren
Ribbons clocked 9lb 12oz for section C and M Killeen of the end
peg for D section with 10lb.07oz well done to the top winners.

Telling the tale after
the match the scales would tell the truth.
