Charities Championship 2007
Holly Farm September 22nd
This was to be the 3rd
disabled-angler.co.uk Charity final and everyone that attended
desperately wanted to be crowned this years Charities Champions so
competition proved to be tough.
The venue once again was the very accessible
Holly Farm and its renowned Trotters Lake, with a new inclusion for
2007 in the form of a four-wheeled buggy and trailer to take those
less able and all their tackle to their pegs “Thanks Del”
30 hopefuls lined up for the draw after taking
on board sustenance for the 5 hours competition ahead, in the form of
a hearty breakfast from Rita’s Kitchen, after which they were
ready and raring to go well some .
Midge was keen but too keen he was lined up
for the wrong draw.
We thought at one stage there was going to be a terrible
accident after he dropped his wallet, but organisers found several
motorway cones to cordon off the area.
I caught Wayne pictured above reading how to
catch fish, he reads everything I write
Guys can't say no to a beautiful woman,
Lyn proved this when she managed to get anglers to part with
a staggering £230 for the raffle "well done Lyn grand
job" can we book you again for next year please.
They say behind every great man there's a
great woman and pictured above is the Danglers fist
lady who did a fantastic job as usual, in charge of
booking everyone in and taking anglers monies off them "
Thanks Lyn"
Bucko (charity events coordinator) decided that running
one match was no challenge to a seasoned professional like himself,
so he ran 2 matches on the day, having also booked the Moby Lake and
Invited an additional 12 anglers to fight it out for the Danglers
Trophy.
Both matches were run to the same times so we could all get back
and be fed, 'its ravenous work all this fishing'.
I amazed several anglers on the day, not with my angling skills I
hasten to add but that I managed to stay awake for the whole match,
something I haven't always managed this season. I was kept
busy targeting the silver fish residents on chopped worm &
caster but didn't tackle right down as I knew the Carp would show an
appearance, well I hoped they would and I was right, as I managed to
mug three of them and was rewarded with a section win for my efforts
but alas not the Trophy I was after, I've got a plan for next year
I'm going to tie Wayne's hands behind his back and gag him,
something I've wanted to do for years, the gagging that is
.

Bucko's Story
With the fog clearing and the sun doing its
best to break through, reports from the early stages were a bit
grim, as it was fishing very hard with not a lot of movement from
any method.
However as the match progressed and the
temperature started to rise, some anglers started to be put
together one or two fish, some having scaled right down to start
and catch the resident silver fish to add to their weight, as in
some areas carp were not showing at all.
The winning weight came from peg 21 with 42
lb Darren Ribbons from Market Harborough with an all carp catch, having fished feeder
across to the island throughout the match.
Then most extraordinary we had a three-way tie for second
place Andy Willet BCUK, Wayne Panting (Danglers) and Roy Ravenhill
all with 38lb 08oz.
(A) Section was taken by Kevin Folwell 36.14
(Drennon Oxford), (B) Section Neil Jeacock (Danglers) (C) Section
Dirk Williams 25lb 06oz (Danglers) (D) Section Alan West
(Danglers) with 10lb 08oz.
This year’s Non- Disabled Charities
Champion 2007 Trophy went to out-right Winner on the day Darren
(Ribbo) Ribbons.
Joint Disabled Charities Champions Andrew
Willett & Wayne Panting had to share the title but Wayne
sneaked the Trophy after a count back on his weight where he was
invited to fish the final from his results at Monks Lake. As These
Trophies are to keep, sharing wasn’t an option on the day but
good news Disabled-angler have secured funding for an additional
trophy and Andrew was only too please to hear that our sponsors
were to fund an additional Trophy and accepted our invite to come
back to Holly farm when we do the cheque presentation where he
will be presented with the disabled-angler Charities Championship 2007
Trophy.
On the day we also ran a team event, six
teams of five all representing the venue they were invited from.
The outright winners came from Team Holmes Farm with a combined
weight of 103lb 14oz. Second Team Monks with 99lb 08oz third Team
Birch House 96lb 10oz, Forth Team Riddings 95lb 10oz, Fifth 48lb
07oz and Sixth Team Misteron 48lb 00oz.
Mr Ashley Mulligan picked up the booby prize
Gold medal for finishing 30th with a weight of 1oz.
On the final note l would like to thank all
competitors who took part in the final and all who have supported
the Disabled-angler charity matches over 2007 and individuals who donated prizes for the final
what a fantastic lot of prizes we had this year. And also a huge
thank-you to all our helpers on the day including my
wife Lyn who does a lot of work behind the scenes.
As dirk has mentioned on the day I ran an
additional match, which l fished myself with nine
others on Moby Pool, it was classed as a invitation match for the
Summer Trophy which on the day all enjoyed, especially the winner
pictured below.
Summer Trophy Winner

by Mr A Willett from
Muswell Hill, London, who raised £310 from The Royal Mail London,
Pegasus Security at F.A.C.O and Nordwest A.C. a fantastic
achievment.
We were also presented once again with a cheque from Mrs. Panting
to the sum of £168.00 for those who don't know is Wayne's mum. We are very
grateful to them for all their hard work during the Summer months
and to all the other guys and gals that organised and raised a phenomenal
amount through out 2007. The final
