Holly Farm September 6th
Charities Championship Final
2008

We've had some fantastic support again this
year, this being our 4th year of raising funds for our
chosen charities Macmillan Cancer Support & Rainbows Children's
Hospice.
The guys and gals at Disabled-angler.co.uk
are all extremely proud of all those that take part in our matches
giving up their hard earned cash some contributing to nearly all
the matches we have on offer and have been since we started. It
seems more like an extended family taking part than open matches
these days.
Every year we're adamant that every penny
we raise goes to the charities themselves but without sponsorship
it would be impossible and this year we were very grateful to have
Woodford Plant Hire join our family picking up the cost for all
the trophies and admin costs. Those red shirts and hats
emblazoned with their companies name and the new Dangler logo
certainly stand out from the crowd, thanks guys as we've said all
year with out your support it wouldn't happen.

Winners Steve Parker & Kevin Folwell
Well the weather didn't
stop the days enjoyment although it did try. There was two
matches as always in progress, Bucko likes to stretch his
organisational prowess and what an organiser he is but don't let
him know I said that. With his good lady Lynda by his side
they certainly make a great team.
After one of Rita's
hearty breakfasts the anglers we're ready for the draw 30 anglers
we're to fish the final on Trotters and a further twelve had been
invited to fish on Moby Including last years winner Andrew Willett
he's more into swimming this year than fishing
.
Anglers armed with wet
weather gear made ready for the whistle but would it fish? and as
you can see from the picture the boss was being a little
optimistic in his T/Shirt he might have been distracted by the
angler on the next peg though Billy Wilson, he was in for a
quiet match then, did I say that
.
Bucko has had an apprentice watching him all season, I think it
could be a long apprenticeship poor guy
.

I can't
really comment on how everyone else caught their fish to be honest
I couldn't see them half the time through the torrential rain, I
gave up with the brolly as the wind was blowing that hard into my
face I couldn't see my float through the brolly. I planned
to fish out at about 6 mtrs and down the edge later on, opting to
fish corn and pellet over hemp and had caster and worm if plan A
didn't work. The only line that did work was the 6mtr one
catching 6 carp and several silvers for 20Ibs not brilliant but I
was happy in those conditions, I'm easily pleased these days
.
As
everyone knows these are open matches we run and each year the
quality of angling gets better I'm not on about myself I hasten to
add. The mixture of disabled and non-disabled anglers this
year was pretty even and as it turned out it was the disabled guys
that had the edge coming first and second.

Del & Rita (Holy Farm)
receiving thanks from (Woodford Plant Hire)
Saying thank-you to the team of fundraisers
never seems enough some how, this year again Andrew Archer
supported disabled-angler with his match up North at Langwith
Lakes and Vince & Peter with their supportive match down South at
Monk Lakes thanks guys your all diamonds disabled-angler wouldn't
be the same without you support.
There's only one charity
events coordinator and that's our very own Bucko again he has
proved if proof was needed in his organisational skills, I had a
dabble at organising matches many moons ago and I can tell you
it's not an easy task he has my utmost admiration for the work he
does for the charities, he's irreplaceable you could say he's a
keeper.
Another dangler that we all love is Roger and his wife Lyn our
secret Raffle collector I haven't told him about that bit though
,
Rogers always there to great the competitors with a big smile on
his face and a cup of tea in his hand a mug of tea and a flask of
tea. All the certificates were very kindly and
professionally formatted by Roger again this year thanks mate.
There's quite a gang of
supporters that help out every match from weighing-in to taking
the draw names to working out the pools monies, If I try to list
them all I'll miss someone out, so to all of you guys a big
thank-you your help is much appreciated.
Well another year over a
done with, just the charities Presentation cheque to organise by
the man-in-charge, we'll let everyone know when that will be and
everyone that wishes to join us is very welcome.
